I just found this at newsday.com, out of New York. I’ve cut it out and plopped it here ’cause their headlines change all the time, and I didn’t want anyone to miss out on the stellar example of, “Excuse me?”

1. Do you like to shop? Why or why not?
Hate it. Unless I’m buying computer equipment, in which case I can’t get enough.
Why do I hate it? I don’t like the crowds, or the stores, or the staff(s). And I don’t really see the point of aimless shopping.
2. What was the last thing you purchased?
Mac OS X Panther.
3. Do you prefer shopping online or at an actual store? Why?
I would prefer to shop online. But I have to do it in an actual store since I don’t have a credit card. The other advantage to this is that I have it when I get home, instead of having to wait for the shipping.
(The exception to this rule is the above. I bought Panther online with a friend’s credit card. And yes, I had his permission. Sheesh — you people are suspicious.)
4. Did you get an allowance as a child? How much was it?
I did, on occassion, get an allowance. It was never very much, usually a couple of dollars every week. But I would get docked for things like bad marks and bad behaviour. So I frequently went without.
5. What was the last thing you regret purchasing?
Ahhh, the brilliance of hating to shop. This rarely happens to me, since I only usually buy what I really really want or really really need. I don’t seriously remember the last time I regretted purchasing something.
So, let’s just say that a piano’s hit you in the head.
I can believe that you might not remember your own name. Or that you don’t remember in what city you live.
But, if you can remember all about the new Wendy’s uber-burger, and its smokey southwestern pepper sauce, then maybe, just MAYBE, you MIGHT remember that France is NOT a city.
